October 11, 2008  Please Touch Museum hosts a "Parkside Community Day" from 10:00 - 3:00 pm.  Come join us as the Please Touch Museum opens it's doors to the East & West Parkside communities for the first time at their new location.  Join us in our celebration of success.  For ticket information call 215-966-1734. 

August 1-3, 2008  Disney Movie Block Party Tour, Sweet Briar Field in West Fairmount Park, behind the Microsoft School Of The Future in the newly formed Centennial District Bring the kids to party and enjoy this wonderful Disney tour in our very own Fairmount Park.  Friday April 1st will be hosted by Raven Symone.  Click here for more information.

July 14, 2008  @11:00 Am  Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble at the Mann Music Center.  Join us for this free concert for our community.  Hear the heartbeat of the African talking drums, the dynamic movements of the stilt walkers, ground masquerades with exciting acrobatics, and vibrant celebratory dances of West African with authentic costumes. This 50-member ensemble hailing from Camden, New Jersey has become one of the largest professional African dance ensembles in the United States.   Follow this link to the announcement.

July 7, 2008  Senator Robert Casey announces a $45 Million dollar legislative bill for the creation of the Centennial District in East Parkside. Follow this link to the announcement.

June 30, 2008  East Parkside Youth Expo- EPRA sponsored event in partnership with ShopRite Supermarkets, The Please Touch Museum, Neighborhood Bike Works, The Philadelphia Police Department, 16th Precinct and the Neighborhood Town Watch program.  The event showcased our community youth and provided information regarding summer programs and jobs available.  Well over 200 residents attended. 

May 1-31, 2007 First African Presbyterian Church celebrates their 200 year anniversary.  First African Presbyterian Church, the first African American Presbyterian Congregation in American, is celebrating their 200th anniversary.  Founded in May 1807 by freed slave John Gloucester, the congregation has gone through much but stands strong still today and is working closely with the East Parkside community to assist in our revitalization efforts.  Come celebrate with us on May 19th at the City Line Hilton Hotel, call for more information.  Our join us for service Sunday morning May 20th at the Church, 4159 Girard Avenue, feel free to join in our celebration!

April 27, 2007  BASF Corporation announces its relationship with the East Parkside Community.  BASF, one of the largest chemical companies in the world, is assisting EPCRC in becoming one of the first high performance sustainable communities in the country.  Read the press release.

April 20, 2007  Earth Day Project Kickoff- EPCRC partners with DVGBC and  IFMA Philadelphia to begin our revitalization efforts for the East Parkside community by performing light demo work and cleaning out 5 rehabs in the community.  Over 60 volunteers participated in the event and it was a huge success.  

Construction began in March of 2005 on the Microsoft school of the future. It officially opened on September 7th 2006.  Take a look at the school.
